Denton High School is a public high school located in the city of Denton, Texas and classified as a 5A school by the UIL. It is a part of the Denton Independent School District located in central Denton County. Denton High was the original high school for Denton (followed by Billy Ryan High School and later, John H. Guyer High School) and has since moved three times. DHS was established in 1884 and in 1910 Denton High School moved to what is now Calhoun Middle School. In 1957, DHS moved, this time to its current location on Fulton Street. In the 1990s, DHS yielded grades 10-12 to the newly opened Ryan High School until 1995. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.[2]
