Little Chapel in the Woods

The Little Chapel in the Woods is a chapel constructed mainly for meditation and prayer.

It was built in 1939, on the Denton campus of Texas Womans University, and was dedicated by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Inside the chapel, there are many pieces of artwork, as well as stained glass windows.[1] It was designed by regional architect O'Neil Ford.

The building was constructed of native Texas field stone quarried 40 miles from the TSCW campus by the National Youth Administration (NYA).[2] In fact, the entire structure, including the stained glass. stone work and lighting, were all completed by the young women attending the school at the time. Funds for the project were raised from donations and various money raising projects, including garage sales and waffle breakfasts.
