The geographies transferred are now designated by the United States Census Bureau as Census Tract 14 in Gallatin County, and as Census Tract 6 in Park County. Its status as part of Yellowstone National Park, however, has not been changed through this transfer. In the 1990 census, the last one before the Census Bureau learned of the transfer, the territory had a population of 52 persons. In the 2000 census, the population had grown to 61 persons.
