Washington and Lee University Historic District is a historic district that includes a set of buildings on the campus of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.

The row of brick buildings that form the Front Campus, which trace to 1824, is a U.S. Separately, the Lee Chapel is also a National Historic Landmark.

The noted British writer John Cowper Powys once called W&L the "most beautiful college campus in America." The poet and dramatist John Drinkwater remarked, "If this scene were set down in the middle of Europe, the whole continent would flock to see it!"

Lee Chapel is designated as a National Historic Landmark on its own.

It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1971.[2][3]
