Vijai Sardesai

Vijai Sardesai (born 4 June 1970) is an Indian politician. As of 2016 he was the MLA from Fatorda constituency from the South Goa District . Vijay contested the Goa assembly elections in 2012 as an independent candidate from Fatorda Constituency and won a majority of votes.

Early life

He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His father was Jaiwantrao, a scientist/entomologist who served with the United Nations. His artist wife Usha loves social work and is active along with Vijay in running the charitable trust We Found Fatorda. His brother-in-law Subodh Kerkar is an artist and sculptor. Vijay comes from a Konkani family and supported Konkani when Konkani was facing agitations.

Career

Vijay has a history in youth politics in Goa. He was the chair of the Goa University Students Council, president of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress,and independent candidate in 2012 after losing out on the Congress ticket. Vijay attempted to create a political alternative to national parties who have incompetently ruled.[1][2]
