Sharon Moore MBE is the Chief Technology Officer for Travel and Transportation at IBM in the United Kingdom and Ireland. She was awarded an MBE in the 2018 Queen's Birthday Honours. In 2017 she won the Future Scot Inspirational Woman in Leadership award.
Early life and education
Moore studied at the University of Glasgow and graduated in 2001.[1]
Career
Moore looks to increase the number of senior women in technology careers by retaining young talent and supporting people who return from maternity leave.[2] She has worked in several roles within IBM.[3] She was appointed deputy chair of British Computer Society's Women's group and their committee member for Scotland in 2012.[4][5] She was made a member of the IBM 100 % club in 2012 and 2014.[6] In 2014 she gave a TED talk at University of Strathclyde about how social media will change the future.[7] She is working with Skills Development Scotland to tackle Scotland's gender gap in technology.[8]
In 2016 and 2017 Moore was listed in Computer Weekly's Top 50 most influential women in UK IT.[9][10] She sits on the Scotland Women in Technology board.[3] She was awarded the 2017 Future Scot Inspirational Woman in Leadership award.[11] She featured on Espree Devora's Women in Technology podcast.[12] She was awarded an MBE at the 2018 Queen's Birthday Honours.[13] Since 2016 she has been a board member of The Innovation Centre for Sensor and Imaging Systems.[14][15]
