Scott Michael Turner (born August 7, 1982) is an American football coach who is the quarterbacks coach for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). He has been a wide receivers coach for the Cleveland Browns and offensive quality control coach for the Carolina Panthers. Turner is the son of current Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner and nephew of current Florida International head coach Ron Turner.

Early years

Scott Turner spent some of his childhood in Texas while his dad, Norv Turner was an offensive coordinator for a Dallas Cowboys team that won two super bowls from 1991 to 1993. This sparked Turner's passion and interest for becoming a football coach. The Turner family later moved to Virginia when his dad became the head coach for the Washington Redskins from 1994 to 2000. While in Virginia, Turner played quarterback at Oakton High School and was a standout player.[1][2]

Coaching career

Scott Turner started his coaching career at the high school and college level from 2005 to 2010.

In 2011, Turner started his NFL coaching career with the Carolina Panthers under first-year head coach Ron Rivera. Turner served as the offensive quality control coach for two seasons with the Panthers.[3]

Turner joined the Cleveland Browns in 2013 as their wide receivers coach, coaching with his dad and offensive coordinator Norv Turner for the first time.[4]

In 2014, Scott Turner was hired by the Minnesota Vikings to be their quarterbacks coach under first-year head coach Mike Zimmer and his father and offensive coordinator Norv Turner.[5] Turner spent a lot of time working with Teddy Bridgewater, drafted 32nd overall in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.[6] In 2015, the Vikings won the NFC North division title but lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the wild card.
