Sawantwadi

Sawantwadi (Marathi: सावंतवाडी) is a town in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. It lies in the Konkan region near Maharashtra's border with Goa. Sawantwadi is known for its wooden handicrafts, hand-made cards colourfully painted. The focus of the town is a lake in the centre of Sawantwadi. Most Maharashtrians with the surname Sawant hail from this town.

Marathi is the most common language, though it is spoken with a different dialect. Konkani is also spoken by a few. Most of the town's population are Hindu, followed by a minority Muslim population.
