Prabhunath Singh (born 20 November 1953) is a criminal turned politician from Bihar, India, and was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha.He represented the Maharajganj constituency of Bihar from 2004 to 2009 and is a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal political party.According to the National Election Watch, Prabhunath Singh was one of the few criminal-politicians who were given a JD-U nomination in the 2009 elections[clarification needed], he lost narrowly (less than 3000 votes) to RJD's Uma Shanker Singh. on 6 June 2013 he again won the by-election of maharajganj constituency by more than 1.5lakh votes contesting against P.K.SAHI of JD-U

He was born in chhapra in rajput family.He is accused in multiple cases .

Political Career

He represented the Maharajganj constituency of Bihar from 2004 to 2009 on JDU ticket.In 2009 ,he contested on jdu ticket ,but lost to another rajput leader uma shankar singh of rjd narrowly.After the death of Uma shankar singh ,seat went vacant.He switched the side and contested on rjd ticket. This time he defeated the jdu's nominee P.K. shahi handsomely.In 2014, he was again the nominee of rjd but lost to somewhat weaker candidate of BJP Janardhan Singh Sigriwal in Modi wave.

Achievement

When he was MP, he raised the sound for including bhojpuri in 23rd schedule of constitution.
