Brandy Rayana Norwood (born February 11, 1979), known professionally as Brandy, is an American R&B singer-songwriter, record producer, television entertainer, actress, and film producer. In 2009, she introduced her rap alter-ego Bran'Nu.

Born into a musical family in McComb, Mississippi and raised in Carson, California, Norwood first appeared in a supporting role on the short-lived ABC sitcom Thea in 1993. Her engagement led to her own star vehicle, successful UPN sitcom Moesha in 1996, and resulted in roles in the 1998 horror sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, and the TV films Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (1997) and Double Platinum (1999), two of television's best rated special programs.

In 1993, she signed a recording contract with Atlantic, releasing her self-titled debut album a year after. Following a major success with Grammy Award-winning "The Boy Is Mine", a duet with singer Monica, and her second album Never Say Never in 1998, a series of successful records established her as one of the most successful of the new breed of urban R&B female vocalists to emerge during the mid-to late 1990s. Her latest studio album, Human (2008), was her first effort to be released on the Epic label after a label change in 2005.

The RIAA ranks Norwood as one of the best-selling female artists in American music history, having sold over 10.5 million copies of her five studio albums in the United States and over 30 million albums worldwide, to date. Additionally, she has won over 100 awards as a recording artist.

Moesha is an American sitcom series that aired on the UPN network from January 23, 1996 to May 14, 2001. The series stars R&B singer Brandy Norwood as Moesha Mitchell, a high school student living with her family in Los Angeles.

The show focused on the life of an upper middle class, African-American family through the eyes of a typical girl. Her father Frank, a widower and Saturn car salesman, has married Dee, the vice-principal at Moesha's school, much to Moesha's dismay. The series was created by Ralph Farquhar, along with the writing team of Sara V. Finney and Vida Spears. The settings for the show include the Mitchell household and the teen hang-out, The Den.

VH1 Divas Live 2: An Honors Concert for VH1's Save the Music, aired live from New York’s Beacon Theatre on April 13, 1999. Strutting through the audience, the indomitable Tina Turner opens VH1's Divas Live 99 by launching into "The Best". She and honorary diva Elton John belt out an energetic version of "The Bitch Is Back", but the highlight is when Turner teases the captivated audience during the slow, sultry opening of "Proud Mary." A sexy dervish on stage, Turner easily out-swaggers her younger backup singer-dancers. Cher joins her to wrap up the classic hit, then segues into her own set in which she plays "Believe" (not released) and "If I Could Turn Back Time" with her staying power. After that, LeAnn Rimes performs "How Do I Live" with a sure, powerful voice. Next to her, Brandy sings with a pleasant and soft voice three of her ballads, which appeared on Never Say Never. "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" was sung as a duet with Faith Hill enters.

"Full Moon" is a song by American R&B singer Brandy. Written and produced by Mike City for her same-titled third studio album (2002), it was released as the album's second single during the second and third quarter of 2002 (see 2002 in music).

The song was the final music video-accompanied single of the album and rarely promoted as Brandy was heavily pregnant with her first daughter Sy'rai at the time of its worldwide release. As a result, the song's impact on the global charts was mediocre: While "Full Moon" made it to the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart stateside, it reached number 15 on the UK Singles Chart. Elsewhere, the track reached the top 30 in France and Italy only.

Human is the fifth studio album by American R&B singer Brandy, first released in France in December 2008 and by March 2009 on most international music markets. Distributed by Koch Records and Sony Music, the album marked Brandy's debut on the Epic Records label, following her split with Atlantic Records in 2005, and her reunion with long-time contributor and mentor Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, who wrote and executive produced most of the album with his songwriting collective.

Generally well received by critics, Human debuted at number fifteen on the U.S. Billboard 200 with opening week sales of 73,000 copies, becoming the singer's lowest-charting debut since her first album fourteen years prior. With a domestic sales total of 200,000 copies, it widely failed to revive the success of its predecessors, also becoming the singer's lowest-selling effort to date. While leading single "Right Here (Departed)" scored Brandy her biggest chart success since 2002's "Full Moon," the album failed to impact elsewhere, resulting in lackluster sales in general and the release of just one other single, "Long Distance."

In mid-2009, during the production of new material for a second album with Epic Records, Norwood ended her management contract with Roc Nation and following the appointment of Amanda Ghost at Norwood's label the singer's contract with the label ended making Human her first and last Epic Record album.
