Plasmodium morulum
Plasmodium morulum is a parasite of the genus Plasmodium.
Like all Plasmodium species P. morulum has both vertebrate and insect hosts. The vertebrate hosts for this parasite are reptiles.

Description
This species was first described by Telford in 2007.[1]
P. morulum usually parasitizes immature erythrocytes but may also infect white cells.
Host cells are slightly hypertrophied and distorted and their nuclei are usually displaced.
The schizonts have 14-40 nuclei and are usually arranged in a globular mass.
The gametocytes are lenticular or oval to round.
Geographical occurrence
This species is found in Panama.
Vectors
Not known.
Clinical features and host pathology
This species infects the lizard Mabuya mabouya.
