Paul Dorpat
Paul Dorpat (born 1938) is an American historian and photographer, specializing mainly in the history of Seattle and of Washington state in general. He has a weekly column in the Seattle Times and is the principal historian of HistoryLink.org, a site devoted to Washington state history.[1]
Dorpat was a key figure of Seattle's first underground newspaper, the Helix (newspaper), which was published from March 23, 1967 until June 11, 1970.[2] As of 2016[update], Dorpat's Times column "Now & Then" has run weekly since January 17, 1982. Each week the column pairs a historical photo of Seattle with a present-day photo from an identical or similar point of view. He has also written numerous books about Seattle.[1]
