Eastern Orthodoxy is one of the three main religions in Montenegro, and the largest. According to the latest census, 446,858 people (72.07%) registered as Orthodox Christians. The majority of Orthodox people are adherents to the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church, while a minor percentage support the uncanonical and unrecognized Montenegrin Orthodox Church which claims the property of the Serbian Orthodox in Montenegro.

The 17th-century Ostrog monastery is a landmark of Montenegro and the most popular pilgrimage site.
