Nerve is an upcoming 2016 American thriller film directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman and written by Jessica Sharzer, based on the 2012 novel Nerve by Jeanne Ryan. The film stars Emma Roberts, Dave Franco, Kimiko Glenn, Juliette Lewis, Emily Meade and Marc John Jefferies. The film is set to be released on July 27, 2016, by Lionsgate.[1]

Plot

The film tells the story of junior "Vee" who enters an online game of truth or dare (minus the truth) that escalates to dangerous levels with her every move being manipulated by an anonymous community of "watchers".

In February 2014, it was announced that Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman would be directing the film, from a screenplay by Jessica Sharzer, based on the novel of the same name by Jeanne Ryan.[2] In January 2015, it was announced that Emma Roberts and Dave Franco had joined the cast of the film.[3] In April 2015, it was announced that Kimiko Glenn had joined the cast of the film, portraying the role of Emma Robert's characters worried friend.[4] That same day, it was announced that rapper Richard "MGK" Baker had joined the cast of the film.[5]

Filming

Principal photography on the film began on April 13, 2015 in New York City.[6][7] Production on the film concluded on June 5, 2015.[8][9]

Release

The film is scheduled to be released on July 27, 2016.[1]
