Khulna Shipyard Limited is a ship construction and repair yard at the Khulna, Bangladesh owned by the Government of Bangladesh under Ministry of Defence and managed by the Bangladesh Navy.[1] It constructs Padma-class offshore patrol vessels for the Bangladesh Navy.Two Durjoy-class LPC under construction.It has built five Patrol Crafts for Bangladesh Navy and two container ships.[2]
History
The Shipyard was founded in 1957. On October 3, 1999 the Shipyard with a 993.7 million taka debt was handed over to Bangladesh Navy. In 2008 all debt had been cleared and since then has been making profit.[3] The Maldives had expressed interest in procuring patrol crafts for its Coast Guard.[4]
