Kelly Murphy (born October 20, 1989) is an American indoor volleyball player. She is a Lua error in Module:Convert at line 1851: attempt to index local 'en_value' (a nil value). opposite hitter. Murphy plays for the United States women's national volleyball team and plays for the Ageo Medics as an opposite spiker. She played college at Florida where she became the first player in school history to earn National Freshman of the Year honors.

Career
High school
Murphy attended Joliet Catholic Academy in Joliet, Illinois. She led Joliet Catholic Academy to a share of the East Suburban Catholic Conference title, as well as its fourth consecutive regional crown and third-consecutive sectional championship in 2007. She amassed numerous accolades. Murphy was named the 2007–2008 Gatorade National High School Volleyball Player of the Year. Murphy is a three-time All-America selection by PrepVolleyball.com (2005-07),two-time Mizuno/Volleyball Magazine pick (2006-07), 2007 PrepVolleyball.com third-team Academic All-American, A three-time Joliet Herald Player of the Year honoree (2005-07) Also named East Suburban Catholic Conference Player of the Year in 2006 and 2007, and earned the honor from the Champaign News-Gazette in 2006. A three-time Chicago Tribune all-state selection, including first team nods as both a junior and a senior. Murphy Led the USA Junior National Team to a fourth-place finish at the 2007 FIVB Junior World Championships, earning the tournament’s Best Server award … Was one of only two players with remaining high school eligibility on the team and help orchestrate three consecutive AAU national championships for Sports Performance from 2006-08, as the club team compiled an 84-0 record since it was assembled when its members were 16 years of age. Murphy was named MVP of the tournament during the club’s first title run in 2006.
College
Freshmen Year
Murphy started her college volleyball career at the University of Florida in 2008. Murphy was named the National Freshman of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association and Volleyball Magazine. The first player in school history to earn National Freshman of the Year honors. The 2008 AVCA South Region Freshman of the Year and an All-South Region selection. Murphy ied for the national lead in triple-doubles during the 2008 campaign with six She holds the school record for career triple-doubles, and she broke the school record for triple-doubles just 27 matches into her collegiate career. Ranked eighth in the SEC with 3.22 kills per set. In conference matches only, ranked sixth in the league with 3.45 put-downs per set, was second in the SEC in hitting percentage (all matches) with a .358 clip, second on the team in digs with 1.88 per set. Made her mark in the Florida freshman record books, as she ranked in the top 10 in nine different freshmen categories. Murphy tied the school’s freshman record for total kills, finishing with 357 and ranked second on the all-time freshman list for kills per set with 3.22. Also was second all-time in hitting percentage by a freshman (.358) and kills per set by a freshman (3.22/set). A three-time SEC Freshman of the Week selection (9/29, 10/6, 12/1), who on Sept. 29, 2008 became just the second player in league history to be named both Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week simultaneously. Sophomore Year
Murphy struggled in her sophomore year at Florida. A 2009 AVCA Second-Team All-American, AVCA All-South Region, and All-SEC First Team. Murphy was Florida’s assists leader, averaging 7.04 dishes per set, which ranks seventh in the SEC. She directed a 5-1 offense for the last six matches of the season, during which time she averaged 10.05 assists per set and a .351 hitting efficiency, was second on the team and third in the SEC in hitting percentage with a .344 clip. She hit better than .300 in 13 of her last 16 matches. In SEC matches only, was second in the SEC with a .370 hitting efficiency. She ranked third on the team with 2.92 kills per set. The only player in the SEC to record a triple-double in 2009, accomplishing that feat nine times, which ranked second in NCAA Division I volleyball. The SEC Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 19, and also a CVU.com Top Performer on Oct. 20. The Most Valuable Player of the Campus USA Credit Union Invitational, and finished that tournament with 27 kills (4.50 k/s) on .452 hitting with 34 assists for a team-high 31 points in the two matches combined, and charted 16 double-doubles on the year .SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Junior Year
As a junior, Murphy had an amazing year. An AVCA First-Team All-America selection, becoming the first Gator to earn First-Team All-America honors since Angie McGinnis in 2006. She earned All-America honors for the third consecutive season, while being named AVCA All-South Region Murphy was awarded the 2010 SEC Player of the Year and was unanimously selected First-Team All-SEC selection Murphy played and started each of Florida’s 31 matches her junior season. A four-time SEC Offensive Player of the Week during the 2010 campaign, last earning the honor on Nov. 1 and was the AVCA National Player of the Week for Aug. 31, earning the honor for the second time in her career after her stellar performance at the Runza/AVCA Showcase in Omaha, Nebraska. A CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Second-Team Academic All-District selection, the only player in the SEC (all matches combined) to rank in the league’s top-10 in kills per set, service aces per set and hitting percentage simultaneously. Murphy was the SEC’s service ace leader, averaging 0.40 service aces per set and became the first Gator to lead the league in aces per set since Aury Cruz averaged a league-best 0.53 aces per set in 2003. Murphy became just the second Florida player ever to lead the SEC in aces per set during a single season. In conference matches only, averaged a league-best 0.45 aces per set and ranked fourth in the SEC and 26th nationally with a .374 hitting efficiency. She was ninth in the SEC with 3.04 kills per set. She tallied seven triple-doubles on the season, including three that came in three-set matches and has a school-record 22 career triple-doubles. She Logged 23 double-doubles in 2010, including double-dips in 15 of her last 18 matches and Hit .500 or better in nine matches. Murphy became just the 17th player in school history to record her 1,000th career kill, doing so against Florida State (12/4) She averaged 5.48 assists per set during the season as part of the team’s 6-2 offensive scheme, setting in three back-row rotations and finished the year third on the team in digs with 2.15 digs.
Senior year
In her final year at Florida, she had an amazing senior year. She was an AVCA First Team All-America selection, AVCA All-South Region, and the 2010 First-Team All-SEC selection. Murphy has led the 26-5 and Gators with 651 assists. She ranked third in the SEC in service aces (38) and sixth in hitting percentage (.329). She was second on the team in service aces, kills (267) and points (336.5), and third in digs (244).She was also a finalist for this year's Lowe's Award, an honor that weighs a combination of accomplishments in community involvement, academics, character and competition. Murphy helped lead the Gators to the elite 8. Murphy finished her career seventh in University of Florida history in sets played (447), eighth in kills (1,306), eighth in assists (2,671), 10th in aces (126) and 10th in points (1,567.5) while registering school record 30 career triple-doubles. After arriving on campus in 2008 from Joliet Catholic Academy in Illinois as Gatorade National Player of the Year, Murphy has started every game. During that time, Florida is 107-17 with two SEC titles. Murphy, an education major, is a four-year All-SEC selection and 2010 conference player of the year. In 2008 she was national freshman of the year.
International
Murphy was part of the USA national team that won the 2014 World Championship gold medal when their team defeated China 3-1 in the final match.[1][2]
