Jessica Goldberg

Jessica Goldberg (born 1975) is an American playwright, screenwriter and television writer. She is the creator of the Hulu series The Path.

Life

Jessica is a graduate of the Dramatic Writing Program at New York University, and The Juilliard School. She was a Tennessee Williams Fellow at The University of the South, a recipient of The Le Compte de Nouy stipend, the first annual Helen Merrill Award, and a 2000 Berrilla Kerr Foundation Award.[1]

She has been a resident at New River Dramatists, a member of PENAmericanCenter.

Plays include: Get What You Need was commissioned by The Atlantic Theater Company (NY). Refuge premiered at Playwrights' Horizons, won the 1999 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and has had subsequent productions including The Schaubuhne (West Berlin); Body Politic, Good Thing, Sex Parasite, The Hologram Theory, and Stuck.

I felt like theater was more accessible to me, but I think in the back of my mind I always wanted to write screenplays. It's such a wonderful way to merge actual playwriting with narrative.[2]

Her television and screen work includes:"The Prince of Motor City" for ABC (2008), starring Piper Perabo, Aidan Quinn, Andie Macdowell, Rutger Hauer and Morris Chestnut. She recently completed writing and directing her first feature based on her play Refuge, with Brian Geraghty and Krysten Ritter.

Her screenplays include: Absent Hearts for Imagine/ Pete Berg; The Amadou Ly Story for Kennedy Marshall; Passing Strange for HBO; Delerium for Mazur at Fox 2000; and Heart of A Soldier for Universal/Josh Schwartz producing.
