Inna (styled as INNA) and Body and the Sun are two versions of the fourth studio album recorded by Romanian singer INNA. Body And The Sun was released worldwide on July 23, 2015 and in Japan on July 31, 2015 while INNA was released worldwide on October 30, 2015. INNA includes songs that were previously released as singles for announced, but never released album projects. They were called Summer Days (an extended play)[5][6] and LatINNA.[7] Songs intended for their tracklists have been brought together on INNA. The previously released singles "Cola Song" and "Good Time" were only available on Body And The Sun.

INNA spawns four official singles. "Diggy Down", the lead one, was released as the debut release from the album on November 25, 2014, and features American duo Marian Hill.[8][9] It became an overwhelming hit in Romania, reaching the number one position on the Romania Airplay 100, where it stationed six weeks.[10][11] Furthermore, the song became also a great succes in Bulgaria, where it reached the number-three-spot of the Bulgarian Singles Chart.[12] "Bop Bop" premiered as the second released recording from the album on July 13, 2015, and features the guest vocals of American singer/songwriter Eric Turner.[13] About the song, Inna expressed during interviews that it has a different sound in comparasion with her previous works. She labelled "Bop Bop" as "cheerful", "crazy" and "energetic".[14] On the Romania Airplay 100, it debuted at number sixty-four just two weeks after its release, and peaked at number two.[15] "Yalla" was released as the third official (and fifth overall) single from the album. It is the first song where INNA sings a part in Arabic language. The song was released on November 3, 2015, debuted on the Romania Airplay 100 at number ninety-four on November 15, 2015 due to its strong airplay performance and peaked at number seventeen. On February 4, 2016, INNA released the official music video for the album's fourth single "Rendez Vous".

Background and development

Inna began recording new material shortly after launching her third studio album Party Never Ends in 2013. She announced the release of an EP called Summer Days in the fall of 2014, for which she launched six promotional singles: "Take Me Higher",[16][17] "Low",[18][19] "Devil's Paradise",[20][21] "Tell Me",[22][23] "Body And The Sun"[24][25] and "Summer Days".[26] Subsequently, Inna has uploaded on October 18, 2014 a preview of unreleased tracks onto her YouTube channel, including a teaser of "Bamboreea", "Jungle" (later renamed to "Too Sexy"), "We Wanna" (later given to Alexandra Stan), "Rendez-Vous", "Danse Avec Moi" and "Hola" (later renamed to "Heart Drop").[27] Finally "Bamboreea", "Too Sexy", "Heart Drop" and "Rendez Vous" made it to the tracklist of the album. Early 2014, she said that her upcoming studio album would be called LatINNA, because she "feels Latinna" (Latina) and has had notable success in Spanish-speaking Latin-origin territories.[28] LatINNA was not released, but instead, on June 7, 2015, she announced the release of INNA, for which she used the songs from the previously unreleased projects.[29] Since the EP Summer Days was never released, all tracks with the exception of "Take Me Higher" and "Summer Days" were brought together on INNA. While "Heart Drop", "Bamboreea" and the song "Bad Boys" were excluded on the Japanese release "Body And The Sun", "Take Me Higher" and the singles "Cola Song" and "Good Time" became bonus tracks. The album was originally announced to premiere worldwide on September 15, 2015, but was then gradually postponed to October 15, 2015 and October 27, 2015. It was finally released on October 30, 2015 in a variety of countries.

Singles

"Cola Song" has premiered as the first single from her announced, but never released project LatINNA on April 15, 2014. An accompanying music video has been released on April 14, 2014, and it has been directed by John Perez. While being a collaboration with Colombian singer J Balvin, Inna confessed during an interview that she knew that "Cola Song" would be the perfect opportunity to feature him. The song became a hit in several countries, with it within the top 40 in countries like Finland, Hungary, Romania or Switzerland. It peaked at number eight on the Spanish Singles Chart and has been awarded with the Platinum certification award by PROMUSICAE, for selling 40,000 registered copies in early 2015.[30]

"Good Time", a featuring with American rapper Pitbull, was released on July 2, 2014 as the next single. A nu-disco-influenced eurohouse song, "Good Time" didn't reach the success of "Cola Song", but managed to chart at number 64 on the Romania Airplay 100, and on the Flemish Dance and Ultratip charts in Belgium. The recording acts as the second collaboration between Pitbull and Inna, following "All The Things", which makes part of Pitbull's studio album called Global Warming. Subsequently, LatINNA was not released, and it was announced that "Cola Song" and "Good Time" will not be the lead singles of the replacing record.

"Diggy Down" became the lead single of Inna's fourth full-length record simply titled INNA. It features the saxophone riff of Marian Hill's "Got It", for which they are credited as a featured artist. The single speaks about a love story between Inna and her unidentified boyfriend, whome she tells that she is "diggy down" for whatever he wants.[31] A R&B and trap influenced dance-pop song, "Diggy Down" became quickly a hit on the Romania Airplay 100, with it topping the chart for six consecutive weeks. A music video for the song was directed by Michael Mircea in Bucharest, Romania and premiered on November 9, 2014. It recheived airplay on Romanian television and reached the top spot of the native TV Airplay Chart, where it stationed for ten-nonconsecutive weeks.[32] Furthermore, the official remix for the song features guest vocals of Puerto Rican rapper Yandel.

"Bop Bop" premiered as the next single from INNA on July 13, 2015. It features American singer/songwriter Eric Turner on guest vocals and became one of Inna's fastest charting singles in her home country Romania, charting after just two weeks after its release. It entered the Romanian Airplay 100 at number sixty-four on July 26, 2015. On August 9, 2015, it climbed thirty-seven positions higher, as placing at number twenty-seven. "Bop Bop" entered the top ten on September 21, 2015 at number six[33] and reached its peak position at number two on October 11, 2015. Its accompanying music video reached number one on the Romanian TV Airplay Chart on September 28, 2015.[34] Particularly, Inna confessed how the song is very different from what she did so far, naming it "cheerful", "crazy" and "energetic".[13] The music video for "Bop Bop" features Inna and her backup dancers sporting clothes and outfits designed by Marni, Givenchy, HBA HOOD by Air, Balmain, KTZ, Ashish, Pierre Hardy and Pas du Tout.[14]

"Yalla" was confirmed as the album's third (fifth overall) single and released on November 3, 2015. Directed by Barna Nemethi the video was shot in Marrakesh, Morocco.[35] It was officially released on November 12, 2015 and asmassed nearly 51.500.000 views on YouTube as of April 8, 2016.[36] After the video release "Yalla" entered the top five of the Romanian iTunes chart and debuted on the Romanian Airplay 100 at number ninety-four on November 15, 2015. In its twenty-third week on the chart, the song reached its peak position at number thirteen on May 1, 2016.

"Rendez Vous" became the fourth (and sixth overall) single taken from INNA and Body And The Sun. Directed by Michael Abt and John Perez and filmed in Pura Vida, Costa Rica, the accompanying music video was released on February 4, 2016 and has so far asmassed nearly 8.400.000 views as of May 26, 2016. The single officially was released via iTunes on February 12, while its Remixes EP was released on March 9, 2016.[37] The song debuted on the Romanian Airplay 100 on April 3, 2016 at number seventy-three and has so far reached number forty-five.
