Henry Leonard James May QSO (13 April 1912 – 22 April 1995)[1] was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. He was a cabinet minister from 1972 to 1975.

He represented the Wellington area electorates of Onslow from a 1954 by-election to 1963, then Porirua from 1963 to 1969, then Western Hutt from 1969 to 1975, when he was defeated by Brian Lambert.[2] He served as one of Labour's whips during the 1960s.
He was Minister of Local Government (1972–1975), and Minister of Internal Affairs (1972–1975).[3]
He was appointed a Companion of the Queen's Service Order for public services in the 1976 Birthday Honours.[4]
