Halon is a commercial scriptable[3] SMTP server software distribution based on FreeBSD.[2]

The web hosting provider One.com uses Halon[4] which operates some of the most active (on the basis of the number of domains they support) mail servers.[5]

Like Postfix, it supports DANE for encrypted email transfer.[6][7] It provides other email security features such as spam filtering[8][9] from CYREN,[10] DMARC[11][12][13] and DKIM.[14] Like MailChannels, it supports transparent[15] operation in order to filter spam coming out of servers not administered by the provider.
