Djamel Bakar (born 6 April 1989 in Marseille) is a Comorian football player currently playing for Ligue 1 club Montpellier HSC and the Comoros national football team as striker.

On January 6, 2008, he scored three goals for AS Monaco against Stade Brestois 29 in the Coupe de France. A very impressive performance for a player of only 18 years, he was commended for this by the French press, and match commentators.[1] Bakar has been linked to various top-flight European clubs such as VfL Bochum, Reggina and West Ham United. On 31 August 2009 AS Nancy have signed the forward from AS Monaco.

International Career

Bakar is born in France to parents of Comorian descent. In March 2016, he was called up to the Comoros national football team[2] and made his debut in a historic 1-0 win against Uganda.[3]

Personal life

His brother Ibor represents Comoros at senior level.
