Chris O'Hare (born 23 November 1990) is a British middle-distance runner.[2] O'Hare was born and brought up in West Linton and attended Peebles High School. He subsequently completed a degree in sports science at the University of Tulsa. He was selected for the 1500m at the 2013 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Moscow after he became the first Scottish athlete in over 35 years to top the UK rankings at the distance. At the Worlds he qualified for the final, where he finished 12th, becoming the first British athlete to qualify for the 1500m final for six years.[3]

Running career

O'Hare was first recruited by University of Tulsa in the United States, where he specialized in the 800, 1500, and mile events. At the 2011 NCAA DI Indoor Track & Field Championships, O'Hare was runner-up in the men's mile behind Miles Batty from BYU.[4] He competed in the 1500 metres event at the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships. O'Hare ran in the 1500m at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where he finished sixth.[5]

Personal life

He has a sister Olivia, who also studies at the University of Tulsa.[6] He is a fan of Celtic FC.[3]
