Chestertons is a London and international residential property specialist with headquarters in Mayfair, and 34 high street branches across London, employing well over 400 workers. The firm’s international arm has more than 50 offices covering much of Europe and reaching as far as Australia, Singapore, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
Chestertons is accredited by various industry bodies, including ARLA, ARMA, NAEA and is a signatory to the voluntary London Rental Standard scheme.[1] Chestertons also offers its landlords the chance to be a part of the Lets With Pets programme, aimed at finding rental properties that are suitable for tenants with pets.[2]
As a member of Agents Mutual, Chestertons is one of the founding bodies of the On The Market property portal. The estate agency also has a number of business and community partnerships that include the Dogs Trust, which administers the Lets with Pets scheme; the Royal Academy of Arts, Calling London, which co-ordinates an annual warm winter coat drive for needy Londoners; and St Mungo's, the homelessness charity, as well as being corporate sponsors of both Chestertons Polo in the Park and community rugby at the London Welsh Rugby Club.

History
1805: Charles Chesterton establishes the company; becomes the agent for Phillimore Estate in Kensington, an agent for the Phoenix Insurance Group (now part of Royal & Sun Alliance), a churchwarden and prominent figure in the Kensington vestry.[3]
1830: Charles’s son Arthur Chesterton ensures succession, establishing Chesterton & Sons with his sons Edward & Sidney Rawlins; ownership remains in the family until 1980.
1929: Chestertons is involved in the valuations of three famous Kensington High Street stores: Derry & Toms, Pontings and Barkers.
1965: Sir Henry Wells is the first of two Chestertons executives to serve as the president of the RICS.[4]
1968: Sir Oliver Chesterton, the last direct member of the Chestertons family, becomes the second of two executives to serve as the president of RICS
1990s: At the end of the 1990s, Chestertons had become one of the largest UK real estate advisors and a leading force in the international property markets.
2005: Chestertons goes into receivership, resulting in the closure of all but 11 offices in central London.[5]
2006: Robert Bartlett is hired as Chief Executive capacity to re-energise the business. Over the course of the next few years, the company expands to 30 branches across London. Robert also develops Chesterton’s international presence, opening numerous branches across the world, with a particular focus in the Middle East.
2009: Chestertons merges with Humberts, which operates 34 offices around the UK. Humberts also owns Farleys, a lettings and estate agency in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. The business is rebranded as Chesterton Humberts.[6]
2013: A decision is made by the board to split Chesterton Humberts into two separate brands, with Chestertons retaining the Farleys business.
2014: The London and international business are officially rebranded as Chestertons, and the new brand is launched at Chestertons Polo in the Park.[7] The company also launches its Chestertons Charity Champions initiative.
2015: January sees the launch of OnTheMarket.com, which Chestertons is a founding member of.The company partners with Avios to reward its customers on qualifying sales, lettings and management fees – believed to be the first customer rewards offer from a UK lettings or estate agency.[8] The business also announces a major partnership with homelessness charity St Mungo’s, launching on World Homeless Day.[9] 2015 also sees the company launch its Lets with Pets scheme and Chestertons FX, the foreign exchange arm of Chestertons which provides a secure international currency transfer for international property buyers. Other projects include sponsorship of the junior and amateur sections of the London Welsh RFC[10] and the provision of corporate support to the Royal Academy of Arts.
Services
Sales and lettings services are made up of a team that manage the entire sales process for its sellers; a lettings department, a New Homes division that provides clients with the chance to review new build properties; mortgage finance advice, property sourcing, corporate services and short let services.[11]
Chestertons manage residential property and provide a range of management services, including property management, portfolio management and estate management.[12]
Professional services comprise leasehold reform, a Russian desk, residential developments, valuations (including secure lending), commercial lease advisory, investment consultancy and refurbishment services.[13]
