Bloomingdale Church is a Christian & Missionary Alliance church located in Bloomingdale, Illinois. Dr. David Riemenschneider, the founder of Bloomingdale Church, is the lead pastor. The church has a rich history of employing prospective CMA missionaries and has sent many of them overseas.

History

Bloomingdale Church began as a new congregation on April 2, 1978. Several families from the Lombard Bible Church and Blanchard Alliance Church in Wheaton joined together to plant the church. Starting with five families, the church met in a local school. In the initial years, Dr. David Riemenschneider invested a lot of effort doing a systematic door-to-door survey in the neighborhoods and invited people to the church. The congregation grew and moved to a building on the present five-acre parcel on Glen Ellyn Road in July 1979. The property also included a small brick farmhouse that is still a part of the church campus.

In 1984, the young congregation took a big step of faith and a major financial commitment to construct the present sanctuary. Five years later in 1989, the congregation added a large activity center with a vision to provide a place for the youth. The church acted as its own contractor and completed the activity center in 1990. In 1993, the congregation built the brown parsonage on the church campus. In 1995, the congregation embraced the challenge of doubling the size of the sanctuary and adding seven new classrooms, including the Solid Grounds Coffee House. In 2006, the congregation worked together to build a third parsonage on the church campus, designed to host missionary families as well as student pastors.

On Mothers Day 2007, the Bloomingdale Church family broke ground on the Phase Four addition. This building now provides a place for large group meetings, new children’s classrooms, elevator, library and additional parking. The 264 Coffeehouse, opened in April 2010, provides quality coffee in a relaxed atmosphere.

Core beliefs

As a Christian & Missionary Alliance church, Bloomingdale Church adopts the denomination's core values[1] and statement of faith.[2] Bloomingdale is a Bible believing church that emphasizes practical Biblical truths and caring for those around us. Bloomingdale Church's mission statement is: "Helping people know Jesus as Lord by being a worshiping, praying, learning, caring, outreaching community".

Mission Statement The mission of Bloomingdale Church is to help people know Jesus Christ as Lord by being a worship, praying, learning, caring, and outreaching community.

WORSHIP We meet for weekly for worship to honor God on Saturdays at 5:30 PM and Sundays at 8:30 AM and 11 AM. “Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.” (Psalm 100:2)

PRAYER Individual prayer and prayer groups serve as the spiritual cornerstone for our church. Worship hours, classes, and home groups include prayer times as a vital aspect. “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” (Colossians 4:2)

LEARNING Our worship/teaching messages and the many classes that are offered emphasize the learning of the Scripture and the practical application of its timeless truths. There are many classes and learning opportunities for both kids and adults. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)

CARING A practical love for Christ and people drives the many activities of our congregation. People serve in the church because love God and care about people. “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)

OUTREACHING Many of the church ministries, including the Saturday and Sunday worship hours, intentionally welcome new friends. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20) We love God and love people. We share the Gospel, disciple new believers to spiritual maturity, and challenge established believers to ongoing growth, seeking to equip them to mentor others in the faith.
