"Arima Arima"
Song

"Arima Arima" is a Tamil song from the 2010 film Enthiran, directed by S. Shankar. The song was composed by A. R. Rahman with lyrics written by Vairamuthu. It features the vocals of Hariharan and Sadhana Sargam. The Hindi and Telugu version of the songs were written by Swanand Kirkire and Vanamali respectively, with title and vocalists retained. Additional vocals were provided by Benny Dayal and Naresh Iyer. The track begins with and uses trumpet in its background, which emphasises the majesty of the character played by Rajinikanth.

The track was aired on Suryan FM on 30 July, a day before the official release.[1] The song was officially released as part of the soundtrack album of the film on 31 July 2010.

The song was set in Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad and was choreographed by Prabhu Deva. It was picturised on Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai dancing with a group of hundred robots (all of them played by Rajini in a robotic palace).[2] According to the director S. Shankar, art director Sabu Cyril and cinematographer R. Rathnavelu, picturising this song was the most challenging part of the whole film. The song also features two robotic lions, the creation of which is a professional secret according to Sabu Cyril. In an interview, Ratnavelu said, "This film has been a big challenge right from the start till the patchwork. But the most challenging part for me was shooting the climax song, Arima Arima, which will be the USP of the film. The song was shot in a set in Hyderabad in 2008. I had to perceive in 2008 what would be in vogue now. So, that was a real challenge and that has come out really well."[3]

The song received favorable critical response and was a chart topper for several weeks.[4][5] The Hindi version of the song also maintained to peek at #1 position.
