The Ariel Award for Best Actress (Spanish Ariel a Mejor Actriz) is a Mexican Academy of Film Award.[1] It was awarded twice in 1947, then annually from 1948 through 1958, was not awarded from 1959 through 1971, and has been awarded annually since 1972.[2] The award recognizes excellence in acting by a lead actress in Mexican cinema. It is considered the most prestigious award in the Mexican movie industry.
