Top Model, cycle 1 (or Top Model: New York) was the first cycle of Top Model. It was broadcast on TV3 in Denmark, Norway and Sweden by Viasat from February to May 2005. The winner of the competition was 21-year-old Kine Bakke from Bergen. The runners-up were Elina Herbeck from Umeå and Nanna Schultz Christensen from Copenhagen.[1]

Denmark's pre-selection
Denmark's competition was hosted by Anne Pedersen, who was also the head judge until the three countries merged and Georgianna Robertson took over. The first episode was aired in Denmark on 15 February 2005 with the final episode being aired on 3 May. The first episode saw nine contestants selected for the competition. Among the cast were Sophie Tine Schandorff, who was rumored to have dated Amy Winehouse's ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, [2] and Helga Rose, who dated Matthew Perry after her participation on Top Model.[3]
The final three girls chosen to compete in the final competition with Norway and Sweden were Cecilie Madsen, Nanna Schultz Christensen and Stine Mangaard Hansen. Mangaard Hansen was the first girl to be eliminated from the competition after the countries merged. The last contestant standing was Schultz Christensen, who was runner-up overall.[1] Schultz Christensen later became a television personality.

Sweden's pre-selection
Sweden's competition was hosted by Mini Andén, who was also the head judge until the three countries merged and Georgianna Robertson took over. The first episode was aired in Sweden on 16 February 2005 with the final episode being aired on 27 April. The first episode saw nine contestants selected for the competition. Among the cast were Maria Öhrstrand, who was the first Top Model contestant to have left the competition voluntarily, Julia Krischel, who later competed in the 2015 season of the Swedish version of Big Brother and Paradise Hotel, and Kumba M'bye, who was originally eliminated in the semi-finals and re-enter the contest as the tenth finalist in the second episode. M'bye would later become a locally successful rapper under the stage name of just her first name. The final three girls chosen to compete in the final competition with Denmark and Norway were Elina Herbeck, Madelene Lund and Maja Ekberg. Ekberg would later become a mildly successful model, landing spreads and campaigns across Europe. The last contestant standing was Herbeck, who was runner-up overall.[1] Herbeck would later become successful in Sweden with multiple ads and various modeling work.

Norway's pre-selection
Norway's competition was hosted by Kathrine Sørland, who was also the head judge until the three countries merged and Georgianna Robertson took over. The first episode was aired in Norway on 17 February 2005 with the final episode being aired on 12 May.[6][7] The first episode saw nine contestants selected for the competition. Among them was Marna Haugen, who already had local fame in Norway for being a successful beauty queen, and after the show became a makeup blogger, which gained her more attention in Europe. The final three girls chosen to compete in the final competition with Denmark and Sweden were Henriette Stenbeck, Kine Bakke and Kristin Rem Trehjørningen. Stenbeck would eventually gain success across Scandinavia including being one of the models for an Armani runway show. Rem Trehjørningen also had minor success locally, with multiple print for minor magazines. The last contestant standing was Bakke, who went on to win the competition.[1] As part of her prizes, Bakke was on the covers of FHM and Elle Scandinavia. She has also signed with many high-profile Scandinavian agencies.
