The fish owls are a group of Asian owls in the family Strigidae. Although they have historically been placed within their own genus, Ketupa, genetic analysis has shown that they are better placed in the genus Bubo.[1]
Four species have traditionally fallen into this group:[2]
- Blakiston's fish owl, (Bubo blakistoni)
- Brown fish owl, (Bubo zeylonensis)
- Tawny fish owl, (Bubo flavipes)
- Buffy fish owl (Bubo ketupu)
