Herzegovinians (Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian: Hercegovci/Херцеговци; singular: Herzegovinian (Hercegovac/Херцеговац)) are the people who hail from the Herzegovina region of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The region which is Herzegovina forms a part of the Dinaric Alps. Regardless of ethnicity, the ethnic groups which compose Herzegovina's population tend to identify as Herzegovinian at a regional rather than an ethno-religious level.

Demographics

In the 1991 census, the part of Herzegovina situated in Bosnia and Herzegovina was recorded as having a population of 437,095 inhabitants. They were:

  • Croats: 206,457 (47.2%),
  • Bosniaks: 112,948 (25.8%)
  • Serbs: 93,047 (21.3%)
  • Yugoslavs: 18,494 (4.2%)
  • All others: 6,149 (1.4%)
