Description
The seal as described in the City of Long Beach Code of Ordinances, § 2-1:
Sec. 2-1. City seal described.
The seal of the city shall be as follows: In the center of a circle there shall be a clock tower with a dome surmounted by a flag. The hands of the clock shall point to half past three and the hours are indicated by Roman numerals. In crescent formation, passing across the center of the flagstaff there shall be five (5) stars. To the left, Neptune is seated, facing the tower and holding a trident in his left hand with the handle resting on the ground. To the right, a mermaid is reclining and facing the tower, her right arm pointing downward, her left arm extended above her head. In the lower rim of the circle shall appear the words, "City of Long Beach, State of New York"; in the upper rim of the circle shall appear the Latin words "Civitas ad mare".
