Summary
Description |
Parts of an MS DOS command line. The prompt is given by the system and indicates that the user can type in a new command. In this example the command is "dir", delimited by a space after the command, and followed by options to the directory command. The arguments to the "dir" command are a file-spec, which uses a wild card character, and some switches to control how the directory command processes and displays information. The switches are delimited from the file spec by the "/" (slash) character. In this example, the system will print a directory of all files with the .jpg extension in the folder "photo" on the drive E, sorted by size, examining sub-directories, and pausing at each full screen of output. |
